THINKTECH TUTORIALS Another new project - ThinkTech Tutorials.   Looking at YouTube in general, there are so many useful tutorials on learning and reminding people on how to do things better on software and systems and well everything.   The best ones are the short ones, a minute or two. With good search functions, and we do have good search functions, people can find and view succinct   video answers to their questions right away, and it's actuallly easier than reading a manual or doing a google.. So we’ve created a YouTube playlist for ThinkTech Tutorials, and created a link to that playlist on thinktechhawaii.com .   We’ll populate that playlist with tips and tricks we have mentioned in our Host Bulletins.   We’ll tell viewers, for example, how to use the search engine we have developed.   We’ll tell everyone how to look and sound good on Zoom. We’ll remind hosts how to fill out show information forms, graphics submission forms, and so on and so forth.   And you'll be able t

POINT-COUNTERPOINT HAWAII We’re undertaking a new ThinkTech project to improve and extend engagement with our viewership and the public.   It’s a monthly series of live open forum webinars discussing public issues in Hawaii. The first program will be on Saturday, March 4th from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm and will address Public Safety in Hawaii.   Of course, there are many implications and sub-issues that come under that topic, including violence, guns, drugs, mental health, DUI auto accidents and the operation of the criminal justice system in general. The format is a moderated one-hour program with presentations by  a panel of hosts familiar with the issues involved with Q&A and commentaries by attendees by chat, email, text and phone throughout the program, designed to elicit as much feedback from viewers and the public as possible. We will simultaneously stream each of these events on thinktechhawaii.com , upload them to YouTube, Vimeo and our other social media platforms, send the

DOES THINKTECH HAVE EXPERTS? You bet we do.   Many of our hosts are lawyers, doctors, architects, academicians and other professionals, and they speak on their topics from the knowledge and through the lens of that expertises.  No question that they are experts and that they bring their expertise to our talk shows. Likewise, our hosts call upon professionals and other experts in the community to appear as guests, and those guests likewise bring their expertise to our talk shows.  Many if not most of our guests are also experts in one way or the other.  Over the years, more of our hosts and guests are experts.  We've stopped announcing them as PhDs, because so many of them are PhDs. Some of our hosts are not professionals or occupational experts.   But many have served as hosts in their areas of content and coverage for years, and given their experience in and with those areas they have clearly become experts, as well as experienced citizen journalists. Some of our shows do bring in

WANT TO BE A THINKTECH HOST? We're looking for hosts, people who have the skill and drive to moderate our 30-minute biweekly Zoom talk shows. Interested?  What do you need? Lots of curiosity and lots of questions. And lots of moxie to go out and recruit guests. We'll help, but a decent Rolodex is a good start.  Gratifications? You get to learn things, even become expert in them. See the world through the eyes of a citizen journalist. Meet, really meet people and get to know them. Some say neither the host nor the guest ever forget the engagement you have on a talk show. There's more - you're doing something for the community, telling viewers things they didn't know, giving them ideas they haven't had, helping of course to raise public awareness, which we need.  What do you have to do? Take a look at the Guides on our website, thinktechhawaii.com. Look at our shows on thinktechhawaii.com and on YouTube.com/thinktechhawaii. See what we do, what we cover, a

SEARCHING THROUGH OUR GOLDEN OLDIES We've been using the new search engine on thinktechhawaii.com and on our smartphone apps, and we've found that these new search functions can easily and immediately find and play a huge number of talk shows from years ago. They are, indeed, our Golden Oldies, many of which from more than 10 years ago.  They are nostalgic and in fact fun to watch, but they are also very informative, and open up a whole new (old) world, a trove, of the history of Hawaii as we have been covering it over these years. Do you have an old show or topic you'd like to go back to?  Do you want to refresh yourself on how things were doing back then?  Do you want to recall the details of an issue, event or technology that was in discussion years ago?  Do you want to see hosts and guests who are now gone from the public conversation?  So many of them are there. This is the place you can find and enjoy them. Yes, we do publish a selected Golden Oldie from our YouTube G
